A better life for your child or teen is possible.
If you are feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or at a loss of what to do with your child or teen, you have come to the right place! I’m Celia Carter, and I’m here to help parents just like you: ones who want their child to see how great they are, who want their child to feel confident and realize that they are enough, who want their child to deal with their emotions before their emotions get the best of them, and ones who want their child to get back to enjoying their life.
I have spent the last 17 years in the mental health field as an in-home counselor, school-based counselor, supervisor, and clinical director. In those roles, I have helped children and their families by equipping them with the skills and tools they need to navigate life with peace and confidence.
Counseling with me is an individualized experience and treatment will be tailored to your child’s unique needs. I use a variety of approaches in working with children and teens; however, the following approaches are those that I use most often:
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): CBT is an approach that emphasizes the importance of the relationship between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.
Play Focused Therapy: Children tend to process their experiences through play because play is the primary language that their brains speak. Please visit this website to learn more about play focused therapy.
Person-Centered Therapy: A person-centered approach to counseling relies on our relationship to facilitate growth. Establishing rapport and trust is fundamental in my work with children and teens. Your child will be provided a safe, empathic, and non-judgmental space as we work together on their specific counseling needs.
